Palette Town Guide — Pokemon Pokopia Area Walkthrough

Palette Town is the creative sandbox of Pokémon Pokopia. Unlike the other four areas, there is no main storyline here — instead, Palette Town is a blank canvas for free-form building, terraforming, and multiplayer. It's also the only place to find every Eeveelution and over 25 exclusive Pokémon. This guide covers everything you can do in Palette Town, from exclusive Pokémon to the complete shop inventory.

Palette Town Overview

Palette Town is based on Pallet Town from the original games. It sits across a bridge from Withered Wasteland and serves as a free open space you can do with as you please. The terrain is minimal by design — flat land, basic vegetation, and very few pre-existing structures. This is the area used for multiplayer on Cloud Islands and co-op modes. You can find full details in our Palette Town area page.

What Makes Palette Town Different

  • No main storyline. There are no required quests or an NPC-driven narrative. Progression is entirely self-directed.
  • No Pokémon Center rebuild required. Unlike every other area, the Pokémon Center does not need to be rebuilt here.
  • Renamable. You can rename Palette Town via the Pokémon Center PC.
  • Multiplayer hub. This is the same map used for Cloud Islands and co-op multiplayer sharing.
  • Sandbox building. Full terraforming and free-form construction with no story constraints.

Exclusive Pokémon (25+)

Palette Town has the largest roster of area-exclusive Pokémon in the game, including every Eeveelution:

All 8 Eeveelutions

Palette Town is the only area where you can find every Eeveelution. Each requires building a specific habitat:

Check out our Eevee & Eeveelutions Guide for detailed habitat requirements for each evolution.

Shop Items by Environment Level

Palette Town's shop unlocks new items as you raise your Environment Level. Here are the key exclusive items:

LevelItems
Lv. 2Big Storage Box, Eevee Doll, Dowsing Machine Recipe
Lv. 3CD Player, Fishing Rod, Pikachu Doll, Counter Recipe, Town Streetlight Recipe
Lv. 4Fan, Light Wooden Wall Recipe
Lv. 5Arcanine Doll, Television, Jumbled Cords, all Paint colors (Black, Blue, Cyan, Green, Pink, Red, White, Yellow), Antique Bed Recipe

Dolls are especially important — the Eevee Doll, Pikachu Doll, and Arcanine Doll unlock specific Dream Islands when given to Drifloon.

Fossils & Collectibles

Palette Town contains every fossil in the game. These are buried throughout the area and can be found using the Dowsing Machine (recipe available at the shop from Lv. 2):

  • Skull Fossil, Armor Fossil
  • Jaw Fossil, Sail Fossil
  • Wing Fossil (5 pieces: head, right wing, left wing, body, tail)
  • Headbutt Fossil (3 pieces: head, body, tail)
  • Shield Fossil (3 pieces: head, body, tail)
  • Despot Fossil (4 pieces: head, body, legs, tail)
  • Tundra Fossil (3 pieces: head, body, tail)

You can also find Large and Small Lost Relics, a Ditto Doll, Substitute Doll, and other treasures scattered around.

Building Kits from Poké Balls

Three special building kits can be found inside Poké Balls hidden around Palette Town:

  • Abandoned Power Plant Kit: A pre-built industrial structure with electrical theming.
  • Altar of the Flame Kit: A decorative fire-themed altar structure.
  • Freezing Chambers Kit: An ice-themed enclosed structure.

These kits give you ready-made buildings that would otherwise require significant resources to construct from scratch.

Key Materials

  • Sea Glass Fragments & Seaweed: Coastal materials exclusive to Palette Town, found along the beach areas.
  • Copper, Iron & Gold Ore: All three ore types are available here, making it a self-sufficient crafting area once you bring a furnace.
  • Fresh Carrots: Can be grown in Palette Town, providing a food source without traveling to other areas.

Multiplayer & Cloud Islands

Palette Town's map is the same one used for Cloud Islands in multiplayer mode. When you invite friends or join a co-op session, you're building on a Palette Town layout. This means any building techniques or layouts you develop in single-player Palette Town translate directly to multiplayer.

Note that events are NOT available on Cloud Islands, even with a fully built Pokémon Center. Check our Events page for details on event availability.

Final Tips for Palette Town

Palette Town is the endgame creative playground. Since there's no storyline pressure, take your time experimenting with building layouts and terraforming. Bring materials from other areas to expand your options — Palette Town has ores but lacks some plants and blocks from Rocky Ridges and Sparkling Skylands. Raise your Environment Level to unlock the full shop inventory, especially the Paint system at Level 5 which lets you customize the color of almost any surface. The Dowsing Machine (Lv. 2 shop) is essential for finding all buried fossils and relics. And don't forget to build habitats for all 8 Eeveelutions — it's one of the most satisfying completionist goals in the entire game.
